Line of Ascent is a publication about seeing clearly enough to make consequential decisions when the ground keeps shifting.
It is the work of Kathleen Goble—writer, strategist, and co-author of The Fight for the Future of Humanity: Making the Case for a 28th Amendment. The weekly article is written under the Line of Ascent name and arrives by email each week.
For years, Kathleen wrote under her own name. As the work grew, one question kept surfacing beneath every subject. Not the loudest opinion in the room, but something more basic, and more consequential.
Who gets to decide?
Not who is loudest. Who decides, by what right, and what remains yours to determine.
The terrain is the conditions you did not choose. The line is the course you take through them. Line of Ascent is the home for that work.
The writing moves through five territories. Different subjects, one question running through all of them.
Kathleen holds graduate degrees in law, business, science, and theology. Across those disciplines, and more than two decades in business and professional work, her focus has stayed consistent: understand complex systems, find what matters, and turn that understanding into clear standards people can actually use.
That is the whole project, in a sentence.
New writing across technology, work, faith, politics, and language—following the questions beneath the headlines to the principles and decisions that matter.
